Technology: Twitter Starts Heading Mainstream
by Lee on Feb.04, 2009, under Technology
This post is for Monday 2nd February 2009
So I’m writing this quite a bit after everyone else is thinking something similar. However, in the last couple of weeks I’ve finally come round to the thought that Twitter is finally starting to head mainstream.
Why did it happen? I think it was celebrity involvement – at least here in the UK. Obama I think helped in the States, Britney I don’t think was any use at all, but here in the UK I think we can thank Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross.

A bonus post for you. It has been all over the news about snow in the UK. In Bath, we haven’t had much yet, however I took the following photos on my way out of a lecture.
University: New Year in Bath
by Lee on Feb.02, 2009, under University
This post is for Thursday 1st January, 2009
It seems strange to talk about a new year in Bath because at this stage, there isn’t really much new about it. Next week is revision week, followed by two weeks of exams.
As such, we don’t start our next semester for another 3 weeks, so there isn’t really a ‘new’ feeling until then.
That is unless, you’re frantically revising and realising you can’t really remember covering some of the content, in which case, you’re learning a lot of new things. Fortunately, it’s not too much like that for me, however there is a lot of frantic revision going on.
Having a Christmas break is a bit deceptive, when over the few weeks you have off, you need to finish a coursework project and revise for 4 exams, all fairly early in the exam timetable. On top of that I’ve had the fun of sorting out placement applications and organising interview dates. All in all, it gives you a small amount of time to enjoy Christmas, but not a huge amount. Random: Organising My Files
by Lee on Feb.01, 2009, under Random, Technology
As the end of last year approached, I found that my laptop hard drive was getting full very quick
I’d recently had to install a lot of new software and had copied a lot of photos off my camera. On top of this I cycle through quite a large amount of podcasts each week. It reached the point I decided I needed an external hard drive to store some files on. I found a drive I wanted, recommended it as a Christmas gift and it has now become my Archive Drive.
The drive I purchased is only 250Gb but is the Western Digital Passport, in Black.
The drive is USB powered and uses USB 2.0 – pretty much what you’d expect from an external hard drive. However what I like most about it is its size.
