A good video of our now former SU President, Alex Nicholson-Evans, discussing achievements for BUSU in the past year and what can be looked forward to in the future.
Technology: Mass Renaming Files in Windows
by Lee on Jul.14, 2009, under Technology
This post is for Monday, 13th July, 2009
Today I went through the process of copying all the photos I took on holiday to my laptop, however, 2 sets of photos followed the same naming/numbering convention (100_000x). Thefore, I wanted to change the second card’s photos to 200_000x. Should be simple?
Well, there isn’t a feature built into windows to do it. I could call them florida (x) and it would be able to number them, but that’s not what I wanted.
A quick bit of googling and I found the following piece of software – rename master
It’s an easy to use piece of software for mass renaming files. It’s very easy to use, but very powerful, allowing you to replace certain parts of a filename, add or remove characters between certain character positions and much more.
The other good thing is that there is no installation required – which is always a good thing.
Read more for a video from PC Mech about the software and how to use it:
Weird Al’s New Song – Skipper Dan
by Lee on Jul.13, 2009, under Theme Parks
Weird Al has released the music video for his new single ‘Skipper Dan’ on his myspace page.
The video/song tells the story of Dan who doesn’t quite make it into show business as he thought he would, but instead ends up working on the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland (something that has probably happened fairly often).
Apart from being a pretty good song, if you’re a disney fan it’s worth a listen, even if it’s just to pick up on those well known lines such as ‘The back side of water’.
Random: Jackson Gravely Ill

This post is for Sunday, 21st June, 2009
(This post was largely delayed due to my recent holiday).
By now, you’ve probably heard the news about the death of Michael Jackson. However, when I was following the story last Thursday night before going on holiday, the death took a long time to be confirmed. The BBC seem to be trying to leave it as late as possible till it stated he was dead. However, did this news story have the best choice of headline?
