Random: It’s Amazing What a Bit of Snow Can Do
by Lee on Feb.19, 2009, under Random
This post is for Sunday 15th February, 2009
Quite a major piece of news over the last week or so has been the amount of snow we have received here in the UK.
I jumped on the band wagon and made a few extra posts on my blog. Generally they were of two types:
- Updates on the university being open / closed
- Photos of the snow
The reason for the universty updates was that originally, the university was being quite slow to update its website, so I was trying to get everything into one place. Due to my involvement in things like The Twang and The reFresh fair, I was finding the status of these out before they were generally being publicised.
The photos of the snow was because at a time liek this, one of the first things I do is grab my camera and I fancied sharing the photos I’d taken, not only to my friends on Facebook, but also to a wider audience.
However, I wasn’t expecting the impact these posts had on my blog’s stats.
Random: Organising My Files
by Lee on Feb.01, 2009, under Random, Technology
As the end of last year approached, I found that my laptop hard drive was getting full very quick
I’d recently had to install a lot of new software and had copied a lot of photos off my camera. On top of this I cycle through quite a large amount of podcasts each week. It reached the point I decided I needed an external hard drive to store some files on. I found a drive I wanted, recommended it as a Christmas gift and it has now become my Archive Drive.
The drive I purchased is only 250Gb but is the Western Digital Passport, in Black.
The drive is USB powered and uses USB 2.0 – pretty much what you’d expect from an external hard drive. However what I like most about it is its size.
Random: Apple Introduces Laptop Without Keyboard

This video made the rounds quite quickly on the web, but I found it pretty funny so thought I’d share it on here too.
The main thing about this video is that there are quite a few bits of it that are true – especially regarding people buying anything new Apple releases!
